For groups of 1–4, we travel in my private SUV — comfortable, air-conditioned and flexible. Groups of 5 or more travel in a private van. Either way, pickup is from your hotel door in Urubamba or Ollantaytambo — no need to go to Cusco.

Urubamba sits at a lower altitude than Cusco, which makes it easier on the body — especially in your first days in Peru. Basing yourself in the Sacred Valley also cuts out the long drive back to Cusco at the end of your tour day, leaving more time at the actual sites.
